Fish for the Lunkers at Snug Harbor
According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Bowstring Lake is managed primarily for Walleye and secondarily for Black Crappie and Northern Pike. The Walleye sample indicated a healthy population and good natural reproduction. The sample indicated lengths up to 22 inches. The Northern Pike sample indicated fast growth and again a good natural reproduction. The sample indicated lengths up to 30 inches. The Black Crappie was sampled with lengths up to 12.3 inches and Yellow Perch up to 11.7 inches.
Bowstring Lake is part of a large chain of lakes - so you can also fish Big Sand, Little Sand, Rice, and the Bowstring River - all are multi-species fisheries.
For the Week of: May 5, 2008 We're excited for the Fishing Opener this weekend. The ice went off Bowstring Lake this past weekend and the water level is high enough now that boat launching will not be a problem this spring. We'll start posting our regular fishing reports next Monday! Check out these helpful fishing links: Minnesota Fishing Regulations - 2008 Edition Fishing License Information & Rates - Resident |
